Laser technology is widely adopted among transportation industry. Famous example, such as ADAS Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, lots of smart solutions are released, eg Lidar. These devices are proven not only to improve traffic efficiency, but also to save human lives. Encouraging by these successful experiences, developers extend laser application to more fields. Intelligent guiding systems for loading zone are one of interesting plan proposed. As we all know, trucks and buses are mighty transport vehicles, for their great loading capability. However, drivers’ blind spot could easily turn these powerful tools into killing machines. Since diesel engines usually generate lots of noises, that means drivers steer while losing some visual and hearing. To minimize accidents, local guiding system will be more than necessary. Here is one customer’s case. They have huge loading zone with 12 lanes. Every day, more than thousand trucks rush in and out to deliver heavy metal products to various customer sites. All Lorries are required to park precisely, or overhead crane may not be able to place metal products at right spot. Once misalignments are found, truck will need to move back and forth until crane driver can unload. This extra movement may cause unexpected truck collision, which will result in chaotic arguments or even fighting. Onsite logistic manager seek for proper solutions to address these issues, because factory will pay for both time and money loss from these delays.

After reviewing customer’s inquiry, IADIY engineering team propose a smart plan – integrating laser range finder module and line laser module with customized pcba. While truck move into parkway, laser beam will be reflected back to sensor. These signals will be calculated by using TOF algorithm “https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_of_flight”, then IADIY laser range finder module output precise detecting distance info to microprocessor at customized board. According to customer settings, microprocessor will submit positive signal to light up laser and initiate buzzer to inform truck drivers. Receiving bright laser alarm and loud warning message, drivers will understand they may miss the correct parking spot. Since there is no other way to turn off these annoying alarm, trucks will be shifted to right location. That improves parking traffic and also operation efficiency.
