FPC Camera & FPC Camera Module

DVP Camera Module & MIPI Camera Module Options

FPC Camera Module

The FPC camera module is a compact and lightweight camera solution mounted on a flexible circuit board. Designed for space-limited applications, the FPC camera is easy to integrate into mechanical structures. With only the image sensor and lens mounted, it connects directly to the processor through a flexible printed circuit (FPC) board. To maximize performance, understanding the sensor specifications and having strong development capability are essential. At IADIY, we provide complete solutions including camera lenses, camera module design, and manufacturing support, even up to processor development.

1. Image Sensor

The image sensor is the core of any FPC camera module. It defines resolution, frame rate, sensitivity, S/N ratio, dynamic range, and supported functions. Choosing the right sensor ensures optimized performance for your DVP camera module or MIPI camera module project.

2. Camera Lens & Optical Filter

Lens selection impacts field of view (FOV), focal length, image quality, distortion, and reliability. For FPC cameras, we provide customizable lens options with additional optical filters when required, ensuring compatibility with your imaging needs.

3. FPC Board Interface & Connector – DVP / MIPI CSI

The interface determines how the FPC camera module communicates with the processor. At IADIY, our DVP camera modules and MIPI camera modules are widely supported across different processors. Selecting the right interface ensures smooth integration with your hardware and software system.

For more details, please review our guides on custom camera module requirements and the comparison of DVP vs MIPI interfaces.

FPC Camera Board Interface

DVP Camera Module vs MIPI CSI Camera Module

CMOS image sensor interface is divided into two categories: one is DVP (Digital Video Port) interface, and the other is MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface). The main difference between DVP and MIPI is that DVP is a parallel interface, while the MIPI interface is a high-speed differential serial interface. MIPI provides higher bandwidth, resolution, and frame rate. Because of its complexity and need for additional hardware, here we mainly discuss the DVP interface.

FPC Printed Board & Interface - DVP / MIPI CSI

The sensor driver is essential for driving the sensor and connecting it to the processor. As a software program controlled by the processor, it depends on whether the processor driver supports the required data interface. Since there are many types of processors and corresponding drivers, you should choose an FPC camera interface that matches your processor’s requirements. IADIY mainly provides two popular interfaces: DVP and MIPI CSI.

CMOS image sensor interface is divided into two categories: one is DVP (Digital Video Port), and the other is MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface). The main difference is that DVP is parallel, while MIPI is a high-speed differential serial interface. MIPI offers higher bandwidth, resolution, and frame rate. Because MIPI is more complex and requires additional hardware, we focus here on the DVP interface.

MIPI Alliance is an organization that develops interface specifications. The MIPI Camera Serial Interface was initially used in mobile industries. Thanks to its high performance and cost-effectiveness, it quickly expanded beyond mobile applications. The MIPI camera module is separated from the DSP, requiring firmware programming and the use of a grabber board for development and production testing.

Custom FPC Camera

High-Performance MIPI & DVP Modules for Flexible PCB/FFC Designs

As our camera module and optoelectronic manufacturing facilities, we can provide camera lenses and customize all kinds of MIPI and DVP camera modules. For MIPI and DVP camera modules, you will need to know the sensor very well yourself, and your team needs to have your own developing ability.

FPC Camera Board Specifications Requirements:

You can customize the size of the PCB/FPC/FFC according to your actual needs. As for the lens, you can choose autofocus or fixed focus according to your actual needs, and the degrees of the FOV can also be chosen at will.

Also, if you can define the pinouts yourself, it will be better. We will make a drawing for you to confirm before making the samples. Once the drawing is confirmed, we will handle the rest.
