FPC Camera Board & Embedded Camera Board Solutions

DVP Camera Board & MIPI Camera Board Options

FPC Camera Board

The FPC camera board is a compact and lightweight camera solution built on a flexible printed circuit. Designed for space-limited applications, the camera board is easy to integrate into embedded systems and custom enclosures. With only the image sensor and lens mounted, it connects directly to the processor through a flexible camera board interface. To maximize performance, understanding the sensor specifications and strong development capability are essential. At IADIY, we provide complete solutions including camera lenses, camera board design, and manufacturing support, even up to processor development.

1. Image Sensor

The image sensor is the core of any camera board. It defines resolution, frame rate, sensitivity, S/N ratio, dynamic range, and supported functions. Choosing the right sensor ensures optimized performance for your DVP camera board or MIPI camera board project.

2. Camera Lens & Optical Filter

Lens selection impacts field of view (FOV), focal length, image quality, distortion, and reliability. For FPC camera boards, we provide customizable lens options with additional optical filters when required, ensuring compatibility with your imaging needs.

3. FPC Board Interface & Connector – DVP / MIPI CSI

The interface determines how the camera board communicates with the processor. At IADIY, our DVP camera boards and MIPI camera boards are widely supported across different processors. Selecting the right interface ensures smooth integration with your hardware and software system.

For more details, please review our guides on custom camera board requirements and the comparison of DVP vs MIPI camera board interfaces.

FPC Camera Board Interface

DVP Camera Board vs MIPI CSI Camera Board

FPC Camera Board Interface

The CMOS image sensor interface used in FPC camera boards is typically divided into two categories: DVP (Digital Video Port) interface and MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface). The main difference is that DVP is a parallel interface, while MIPI is a high-speed differential serial interface. MIPI provides higher bandwidth, resolution, and frame rate. Because of its complexity and need for additional hardware, we mainly introduce the DVP interface for FPC camera board integration.

FPC Printed Board & Connector – DVP / MIPI CSI

The sensor driver is essential for connecting the image sensor on the FPC camera board to the processor. As a software program controlled by the processor, it depends on whether the processor driver supports the required data interface. Since there are many types of processors and corresponding drivers, choosing an FPC camera board interface that matches your processor is critical. At IADIY, we mainly provide two popular interfaces: DVP and MIPI CSI.

In an FPC camera board design, the DVP interface is parallel and simpler to implement, while MIPI is a high-speed differential serial interface. MIPI offers higher bandwidth, resolution, and frame rate, but requires additional hardware and firmware development. For cost-sensitive or simple system integration, the DVP camera board is often preferred.

MIPI Alliance develops interface specifications widely adopted in the electronics industry. The MIPI Camera Serial Interface was initially designed for mobile devices, but thanks to its high performance and cost-effectiveness, it has expanded to many applications. When using a MIPI FPC camera board, developers usually require firmware programming and sometimes a grabber board for testing and production.

Custom FPC Camera Board

High-Performance MIPI & DVP Camera Boards for Flexible PCB/FFC Designs

Custom FPC Camera Board

With our advanced camera board and optoelectronic manufacturing capabilities, we provide custom FPC camera boards with MIPI and DVP interfaces. For MIPI and DVP FPC camera boards, your team should understand the image sensor specifications and have development capability for seamless integration. At IADIY, we support complete customization from lens, FPC layout, to board-to-processor connectivity.

FPC Camera Board Specifications Requirements:

You can customize the size of the FPC/FFC board based on your project needs. For the lens, you can choose autofocus or fixed focus, while the FOV (field of view) can be adjusted freely. If you define the pinouts yourself, we will provide detailed drawings for confirmation before sample production. Once approved, we will handle the rest of the manufacturing process.
